Potential Algorithm Update: July 2020

At the start of August, rank tracking and SERP volatility tools picked up a period of high activity, with July 28th being at the centre of the unrest.

This comes after months high activity and ranking shifts, presumably related to the ever changing user behaviours and needs due to the Corona pandemic.

Whilst this period of unrest had calmed down, the end of July/start of August event affected mostly all verticals, with websites falling into the categories of:

  • Real estate
  • Automotive and motor
  • Household furniture
  • Personal services (taxi, food delivery)

Seemingly bearing the brunt of the changes.

This potential update appears to have been rolled out across all Yandex regions, aside from Minsk.

Please let me know in the comments which sector your website falls in to, and if you’ve been affected by the July 28th update.
