Yandex Algorithm Seems To Be Calming Down

Between February and June 2020, Yandex algorithm monitoring tools have shown extremely high levels of volatility across the majority of verticals.

For context, throughout the entirety of 2019 algorithm volatility tools recorded a score of 10/10 twice, whereas in 2020 this number has already reached 7 by the end of June.

Why So Active?

Given the sheer scale of the volatility, and the length of time that it has gone on for correlates with the peak of the global Coronavirus pandemic.

During this time, a lot of offline behaviors shifted online and it makes sense that due to increased visibility across a large number of keywords, increased content output from vendors, and changing needs that SERPs across multiple sectors would need to re-adjust to match new user intents.

Whether or not we’ll see a similar swing later in the year to further adjust to changes in lifestyle is yet to be determined.
