Yandex.News Has Changed The Process Of Scoring Titles

The Yandex.News team sent out a notification to publications notifying them about the new process of working with evaluative headlines so that partners who do not systematically commit violations could quickly return to the noticeable blocks of the plot.

The notification reads:

By popular demand, we are changing the scheme and duration of bans for headlines containing insults, aggression, discriminatory and provocative language, as well as value judgments without explicitly indicating the author of the statement.

The current scheme went live in early 2020. According to it, a partner who sent a header in his export that violates the rules of the service ceased to be included in the headlines of stories and in the digest for 3 months.

According to the new rules, the partner who received the first warning will not be included in the headlines and digests for 2 weeks, and not 3 months, as before.

In case of a repeated violation, the partner is excluded from the headlines of stories and digest for 4 weeks, and in the case of a third violation – for 6 weeks.

The fourth violation will lead to exclusion from the headlines of stories, digest, and the “More about the event” block for 3 months.

Warnings are limited to the current year. Warnings accumulated in a year are not carried over to the next year.

The previously imposed restrictions are no longer valid. All publications that received warnings for evaluative headlines at the end of 2021 are returned to all story blocks.

The service rules can be found here.
