During January, in a post on the Rayon network, Yandex have announced they are closing the Rayon service.
According to the service SimilarWeb, the number of visitors to the Yandex.Rayon website has been decreasing since June 2020.
Yandex launched Yandex.Rayon in 2016. This is a social service where residents of the same city or region can communicate with each other. Locla community members share news from their area, post announcements and questions, and learn about interesting events around them.
The service works in all cities of Russia, as well as in Minsk, Grodno, Vitebsk, Brest, Gomel in Belarus. In 2018, the service was launched in Tashkent in Uzbekistan under the name Yandex.Mahalla.
According to Yandex, the monthly audience of “Rayon” exceeded 3.5 million users.
In August 2020, Yandex closed the People Search service (Yandex.People) due to its unpopularity, and in November announced that testing of subscriptions to the Autoconcierge services for motorists had been completed.
