Yandex.Travel Has Launched Sales of Tickets for Electric Trains in Moscow Area

In Yandex.Electricichki (the Yandex.Travel mobile application), you can now buy a commuter train ticket online so you don’t have to stand in line at the ticket office. Tickets are already available in the Android app, and they will appear on iOS in June. The service was launched jointly with the Central Suburban Passenger Company.

The application contains tickets for all main directions of electric trains in Moscow and the Moscow region. Users can view prices, timetables and buy a one-way ticket – for example, from Moscow to Peredelkino or from Mytishchi to Moscow. Tickets are sold without seat selection and are valid until three in the morning of the next day. To buy a ticket, you just need to indicate the point of departure and arrival and select the date. It is faster and more convenient than going to the cashier, especially if you are short on time.

You can use an e-ticket from stations where there are turnstiles or validators. To do this, you need to open a ticket and take a picture of the OR-code on the turnstile – a barcode will appear on the smartphone screen. It remains to attach it to the reader – and you can go to the platform. On validators, it is enough to simply activate the ticket.

Yandex.Electricichki, the most popular application in Russia with public transport routes and ticket prices, has been operating since 2013. More than 2.1 million Android smartphone owners and about a million iOS users use it every month.
