Yandex was founded on the 23rd of September, 1997, and today is celebrating it’s 23rd birthday.
The concept of Yandex Search was presented at the annual Russian exhibition of IT-industries, SofTool, in Moscow. To demonstrate at this event, Yandex had to index the entire Russian-speaking segment of the Internet. At that time, there were about 5 thousand sites.
