Yandex Updates Zen Algorithm To Weigh User Clicks

From December 7, 2021, the Yandex.Zen has begun to take into account and display clicks on links within an advertising publication in statistics with actual readings.

Previously, the algorithm perceived the user’s transition to a link from an article as a signal of irrelevant or low-quality content.

Now, even if the user has not read the article to the end, the transition will become an important indicator of the quality of the advertising publication, along with the readings. At the same time, if the user followed the link to the landing page without having finished reading the publication, and then returned, this is one reading.

Accounting for conversions will allow the algorithm to more objectively assess the quality of an advertising publication and rank it in the search results, and it will become easier for advertisers to analyze the effectiveness of advertising content.

Conversion accounting will work in all types of campaigns, but payment for such a transition will only occur in campaigns for reading and scanning.
