Direct Advertisers Now Able To Place Banners In Yandex.Navigator

Advertisers are now able to place banner advertisements within Yandex.Navigator (on both iOS and Android devices). This follows on from the rollout allowing advertisements in the Yandex.Metro app in October 2019.

The banner advertisement uses the CPM model, and only appears when the users device detects that they are stationary (or, as the official documentation states – traveling at 0km/h).

The banner advertisement UI.

The banner is designed to not distract motorists, however, when a user clicks on the banner a Turbo page appears with more information, as well as the advertisers brand and website, and CTAs such as buttons, telephone option, or a form.

Given the user will be likely be driving, or at a traffic light for the advert to appear, it is not clear as to whether or not the advert will then close (or store itself for later) should the driver start moving again.

Like most advertising options with Yandex, your Navigator advertisements can be configured to display to specific user profiles including data points such as:

  • geolocation;
  • gender, age, and income;
  • marital status, profession;
  • interests;
  • Yandex.Metrica and Yandex.Audience data.

Keyword targeting is not available.
