Yandex Implements Fake News Warning Banner For Ukraine Related Queries

Yandex search began to display a warning about the possibility of inaccurate information on search requests related to Ukraine.

The statement that appears on search results reads:

Some materials on the internet may contain false information. Please be careful.

It is worth noting that the Yandex News algorithm currently remains unchanged, and this is an automatic mechanism introduced to protect users.

This has been explained in a press release:

Such a  feature appears automatically on requests for which there is an abnormal surge in the growth of materials and a rapid update of news. The reason is that search engines cannot always index all content instantly, and as a result, the picture may be unreliable. We are constantly working to improve the accuracy of this automatic mechanism.

By unreliable, my interpretation is that in quickly unfolding situations maintaining a crawl/index/return system may lead to some results not surfacing in absolute real time.
