Kinopoisk Has More than Doubled It’s Revenue

Kinopoisk, owned by Yandex, has more than doubled its annual profit. At the same time, the net loss in 2021 also increased compared to the previous year – to 4.85 billion rubles.

The revenue of the online cinema in 2021 amounted to 7.16 billion rubles, follows from the published financial statements. In relation to 2020, it increased by 2.4 times. The net loss also grew – from 3.48 billion rubles in 2020 to 4.85 billion in 2021. Loss on sales amounted to 4.1 billion rubles

Kinopoisk ranks second among Russian online movie theaters in terms of revenue. Leadership is held by ivi with a revenue of 11.8 billion rubles, however, like Kinopoisk, it completed 2021 with a net loss of 2.1 billion rubles.

The third position is occupied by Okko, owned by Sberbank, with a revenue of 5.2 billion rubles, but in terms of net loss, in the amount of 9.3 billion rubles, it bypassed Kinopoisk and ivi combined.

The total revenue of video services in Russia at the end of 2020 grew by 41% to 54.9 billion rubles.

It should be noted that in early February, Roskomnadzor determined a list of sites whose audience requires constant and systematic analysis. The list of 79 Internet sites also includes online cinemas Okko, Kinopoisk, ivi, and Premier.

Recall also that on March 7, the American streaming service Netflix announced a temporary suspension of its work in Russia. On March 23, the online cinema removed its application from the Russian App Store and Google Play.
