Yandex Develops Advanced Neural Network Capabilities To Detect Code Errors

Innovative AI Technology Enhances Learning and Problem-Solving in Programming.

Yandex, a leader in cutting-edge technology, has once again made waves in the tech world with its latest advancement: the YandexGPT neural network. This groundbreaking AI tool, designed to identify and help rectify errors in program code, is now available in Yandex Workshop and the Yandex Textbook platform, marking a significant leap in educational technology.

The YandexGPT neural network, developed by Yandex’s team of experts, extends beyond merely spotting mistakes in code. It aids users in understanding the underlying issues preventing their code from running correctly. By highlighting typographical errors, incorrect calls to elements, syntax issues, and other critical aspects of coding, the neural network serves as an invaluable assistant in the coding process. Notably, it stops short of providing outright solutions, instead guiding users to discover and resolve these errors independently.

In the Yandex Workshop, this smart code editor has entered a testing phase, integrated within online course simulators covering various domains. These include front-end development, product design, full-stack development, Go development, test automation in Python and Java, among others. The AI generates up to three hypotheses for each identified error, offering different perspectives to the learners. If these suggestions do not suffice, users can request further clarification on the nature of the error.

For those utilizing the Yandex Textbook, this feature is part of the “Unified State Exam in Computer Science with Yandex Textbook” project. The “Help me fix the error” button, a new addition to the AI assistant mode, automatically appears when coding mistakes are detected.

Looking ahead, both the Workshop and Textbook platforms plan to further integrate AI into their educational offerings. The Workshop is developing an interactive chat to assist students with homework, code debugging, and project ideation. Concurrently, Yandex Textbook is working on creating Russia’s first educational neural network specifically for computer science studies.

This initiative follows Yandex’s recent move to provide open access to the YandexGPT API through the Yandex Cloud platform. Additionally, the company has developed a new version of its AI assistant Alice, now powered by the advanced YandexGPT 2 language model.

Yandex continues to demonstrate its commitment to enhancing educational tools and resources through innovative AI technologies, setting new standards in the realm of digital learning and coding education.
