Yandex Update Zen Article Formats

The Yandex.Zen platform has introduced changes to the rules for formatting articles.

They will make the design of the texts more accurate – the articles will not be overloaded with unnecessary elements and will become more easy to read.

Some of these formatting elements are akin to adding emphasis to text, which can make it harder for some reasons to use.

A summary of the changes:

  • It will no longer be possible to make the text in articles underlined.
  • You will no longer be able to select text in italics and bold at the same time.
  • The citation block is intended only for the publication of direct speech.

These changes will apply only to recent articles, with the formatting on older articles remaining the same as to not cause additional work for Zen authors.

The Zen developers, in their release article, have said that:

All of these changes are part of the article and feed design updates that will take place in the coming months. We are sure that the design of the article directly affects the perception of the material and we want to make Zen more comfortable for our users.
